# Warrior Web

Warrior Web (WW) is the project funded by DARPA which aims to develop soft exosuits for load carriers. The ultimate goal is to reduce metabolic expenditure of soldiers by assisting lower limbs when they march with heavy loads. WW full suits focus on two main joints: ankle and hip. The ankle actuators on the back assist ankle plantarflexion at push-off via Bowden cable, and similarly, the hip actuators assist hip extension from 90% gait cycle (GC) to 20% GC of the next stride. Using the fact that hip flexion is activated at the similar timing to the anknle plantarflexion, WW suits have multiarticular strap which delivers half of the ankle plantarflexion assistance force to hip flexion.

As a lighter and simpler version of the WW exosuits, we developed exosuits that only assist hip extension: Hip-Only (HO) exosuits. Since HO exosuits augment hip extension only, the suit consists of waist belt and two thigh wraps only. There is no suit component or sensor below the knee joint. HO suit assists not only walking but also slow running.
